Qualification
Application to bear their own expenses:
No applicant for the post of a traffic warden shall be entitled to payment of any expenses for appearing at any interview or for anything required to be done by him in connection with his application or appointment.
Application for Appointment: Application for appointment as a traffic warden shall be obtained from the Office of the CTW. An application form, duly filled in by the applicant, shall be sent to the CTW. The Commissioner of Police, will direct the candidate to appear for an interview before the selection board.
Selection Board: The selection board shall be constituted by the Commissioner of Police, and shall consist of the following points:
- Commissioner of Police
- Dy. Commissioner of Police, Traffic,
- Chief Traffic Warden.
The Commissioner of Police, shall have powers to co-opt other person or persons as member of the selection board.
The selection board shall consist from time to time as such time and place as may be directed by the Commissioner of Police.
No persons shall be appointed as a Traffic Warden unless he has been recommended for appointment by the selection board.
The selection board shall have powers to reject any candidate without assigning any person.
If the selection board entertain any doubt about the physical fitness of any candidate, it may be in require him to undergo medical examination before selection by medical officer as may appointed for the purpose by the Commissioner of Police.
APPOINTMENTS
- The Commissioner of Police, Madurai City, shall appoint the Chief Warden, the Deputy Chief Warden and Traffic Wardens.
- The Planning Officers and Asst. Planning Officers will be appointed by the CTW.
Uniform:
Khakhi Pants, Khakhi Shirts, Brown Lanyards with Whistles.
Khakhi Peak Caps with TPTW insignia.
Name plates (White in block letters bilingnal)
Brown Police Shoes and Belt with TPTW insignia.
Rank in classification
Chief Traffic Warden, Tamil Nadu Traffic Warden in equivalent to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police.

RANK AND CLASSIFICATION WITH STRENGTH:
The rank, classification and strength of the Madurai City Traffic Warden's Organization shall be as follows:

| 3. Traffic Warden | Not exceeding 100 in any division |
Eligibility
In orders to be eligible for appointment as a Traffic warden a person shall:
- be citizen of India;
- ordinarily reside or carry on business, trade or profession in the city of Madurai;
- do not below 25 years of age and not above 45 years of age;
- not take any active part in politics;
- have a fair knowledge of English, Tamil and referably one other language;
- be physically fit;
- be willing and able to render voluntary and non remunerative service to the Government;
- be in a position to purchase at his own cost his uniform equipment and badges;
- not have been convicted of any offence by any court
- not be an officer or any regular of auxiliary military unit or essential service or held any honorary rank to.
Any of the conditions mentioned in sub-regulation be relaxed by the selection board, hereafter described in its opinion, there are sufficient grounds for making relaxation.
